The Yogini from Manila

Take 2: A blissfully balanced yogini afternoon at the Fort with our RegettaCanoe shoes

“Love is lovelier the second time around…” and when you get a second chance to try on an ergonomic pair of RegettaCanoe shoes that you already love, you do not say no.

For weeks I had already been wearing a pair of RegettaCanoe shoes that Ansel Sy of the Primer Group had me try. And loved the walking experience!

Read about my first experience with RegettaCanoe HERE.

This time though, I was with a group of lifestyle bloggers, and surprise, surprise….two of my yoga teacher-friends, Monica Eleazar-Manzano and Anna Manalastas! This was going to be a fun, fun, differently yogic afternoon!

The philosophy of RegettaCanoe, a vegan product, is clearly aligned with things we practice in yoga. It can be seen from their 5 main features:

  1. It corrects posture, alleviating pressure in the knee and hip, which causes long-term pain.
  2. It reduces the impact on the feet (the part that touches my soles are cushiony, not hard).
  3. The arch support improves blood circulation, lessening feet fatigue.
  4. Although most RegettaCanoe shoes are open-toed, they have a special heel and toe guard to protect feet from bumps from the front or back.
  5. RegettaCanoe’s philosophy is against animal testing and use of toxic materials.

Our venue host for the afternoon was SUSI, known as a chic vegan restaurant at Forbes Town Center in Bonifacio Global City.

Following a brief introduction by Ansel, we were treated to a talk by Dr. Edgar Michael T. Eufemio  on common injuries experienced by people and what a few simple lifestyle adjustments can do to prevent these. Dr. Eufemio is currently the President of the Philippine Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (POSSM) and the Vice President of the ASEAN Society for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy (ASSA). Dr. Eufemio said that before accepting the invitation to talk in this event, he examined the RegettaCanoe shoes. In his professional judgement, the style of the shoes will help prevent or alleviate conditions which he discussed with us.

Of course, an event like this won’t be complete without an actual walking experience in our RegettaCanoe tees and shoes so everyone could really experience the ergonomic features that RegettaCanoe is known for. So off we all went to nearby Forbes Circle.

At Forbes Circle, we were asked to walk around the grassy area to test our shoes. The pair I had on this time had a lower height compared to my first pair and wow, just as comfy! I think it is really the canoe-shape and arch support that form the secret of RegettaCanoe pairs.

Explaining our activity

Listening to the challenge being given all of us using our RegettaCanoes

We were given a challenge: Form teams and use the Boomerang app (a video of around 2 seconds only that loops continuously) and strike a pose using our RegettaCanoe pairs. Naturally, Monica, Ana and I formed our own yogini team. It took just several seconds to decide that they would do Bird of Paradise while I would just do a tree pose in the middle (because it so happened that I was wearing really tight, non-stretchy maong pants that day!!!). The result? Our team won! The three of us went home with a very nice tea set each.

Look at our Boomerang video. Crazy, right? Haha!

And, of course, no blogger event is complete without a posterity group pic. So here we are….happy RegettaCanoe shoe owners all!
