While I am attempting to identify all yoga studios and yoga sanctuaries in the Philippines, this is a personal blog and not an official yoga resource site. Listings here are those I know of, are recommended by practising yogis/yoginis, or those I have personally tried. I try to include only studios whose instructors are teacher-certified according to international yoga teaching standards, but I cannot always guarantee this.Β Please do check your yoga instructor’s teaching-certified qualifications. Finally, to protect my readers from links with online risks, I have to delete any listing immediately (without prior notice to the yoga studio) if found to have malware.

    • @apple – Hi! I am not currently aware of anyone offering Brahma Kumaris but I hope any of my readers in the Philippines can give you a heads-up if they know of one.

  2. Rajadhiraja Yoga at Grandma’s Yellow House SAGADA,mt.province, regular yoga classes MWF 7:30 -9:ooam.

  3. Bikram Yoga Alabang recently opened last Oct 2010.

  4. Hi Jane,

do you know a personal instructor who can teach yoga at the comfort of my home. preferably male or a not so attractive woman. I live in New Manila. I’d really appreciate your response πŸ™‚

@KT – What kind of yoga are you looking for and are you thinking of a one-on-one instruction or you have friends who’d join the class? How often do you want the classes? I can ask some yoga teacher friends if they’re willing but you need to give me more information.

  5. Yoga+ at the Fort officially opens Feb 1. look them up at facebook

    @Shawn – Thanks! I’ll look them up.

  6. Hi Jane! would just like to say thanks! because of your site and your list of yoga studios, I discovered Yoga Malate! I go to Bikram Yoga in Makati but only during Sat & Sun, and this is certainly good news for me so i can practice some more!

@Vina – Wow, I am so happy I was able to help you. Do keep in touch. Namaste.

  7. is there a bikram hot yoga place in cebu phil?

@Ging – Hmmmm, I haven’t heard of one but let me contact Tristan Choa of Bikram Yoga Manila and ask if they put up a branch there.

  8. Hi Jane,
I am looking for Kundalini Practitioners in the Philippines.I would like to jion their grp. Kindly give me leads to where i could find them. Thanks in advance,
    Albert

@Albert – By posting your comment here, I hope someone practicing kundalini responds to you.

  9. Hi!

I’m wondering if you know of any studios or private teachers (not yet mentioned above) in Quezon City that teaches Ashtanga mysore? I’m from Fairview and the studios listed are just too far and I’m thinking if its worth the travel time. πŸ™

    Hope I get a feedback πŸ™‚

  10. Correction, it is Flow Yoga Center. Not Flow Yoga Manila.

  11. Flow Yoga Manila along Commonwealth Avenue is not worth the try. I have been attending classes there for months and the instructors are very inconsistent. Class become cancelled at the very last minute and the owner-teacher is not even certified to teach yoga and she is still teaching. People are very rude in this Yoga Center. i would rather enroll in Flowyogaqc in UP.

@Ms. Wellness – Thank you for writing. I am publishing this in the hope that your specific observations may be addressed by the shala concerned as I am not familiar with them. All I can say is that their website says the owner-teacher is certified by a yoga institute. Is she still the owner? I am not always in a position to check all teacher certifications so I strongly urge all my readers to check that yoga teachers are duly certified to teach yoga.

  12. Hi Jane, Thank you so much for your info. I get a lot from reading your blog. I hope you don’t mind that I link yours. -zel

@Zel – You’re welcome and thanks for linking me up! Namaste.

  13. hi jane.. maybe you could add my sister Ibong Nepomuceno-Ora. She teaches Ashtanga yoga

She recently opened her studio in Makati (Valero and Guadalupe)

    here’s her website http://symmetryyoga.weebly.com

    thanks so much!

@Al – Added her site already! Namaste.

  14. Yoga looks simple but is quite challenging once you get into it. The though of doing downward dog, or warrior one, gets my muscles quivering in anticipation of the exercise. I don’t go to any yoga studio, but just do yoga once a week in the comfort of my own condo.

  15. Hi,
I’m looking for a yoga studio near the bicutan/sucat area, or somewhere in ortigas. I’ve always wanted to take up yoga but had reservations coz I’m overweight, what type of yoga will be best for me as a beginner?

@Marites – Hi and thanks for dropping by. On this page you will find a list of yoga shalas and location. In my practice, I’ve had ‘classmates’ who are overweight. For as long as you get a doctor’s clearance, yoga should be okay for anyone. However, I suggest you try a class that offers gentle or restorative yoga. That way, you will be introduced to yoga with modified poses that will not unduly strain a beginner.

  16. Asthanga Vinyasa Yoga is truly very effective. I wish there was a workshop in my area too.

  17. Hi , do you know what’s the name of the new yoga studio at the Fort, Boni High Street near The Spa….they offer yoga and other types….if you have any info about it, i appreciate it much. Thank you.

  18. hi..

i would like to enroll in a yoga class. do you know any yoga studio in cebu city?

    Thank you so much.

  19. Hi jane,

I would really like to know if the Ananda Marga in sikatuna Village is a great place to take yoga classes? How does it differ from any other yoga class anyway? besides from being healthy, i also want to get slim, can you recommend Ananda Marga? Your comments will be really helpful πŸ˜€

    Mari πŸ™‚

    • I take classes in Ananda Marga (Sikatuna) and I really like it there. Lloyd and Niel are very good teachers. You really get a good workout.

I also recommend Bikram yoga. Try them both! πŸ˜€

  20. Hi Jane,

Kindly update Joji’s website, Flow Yoga QC. It’s http://www.flowyogaqc.co.nr. Thanks.

    @Jon – Right-o!

    • Thanks Jane.

Please add also Flow Yoga Manila (www.flowyogamanila.com). It’s a new yoga studio in Commonwealth, Quezon City teaching Flow classes (Gentle, power, gentle).

There’s another small ashtanga shala in Tomas Morato. Will get the contact details first.

See you when I get back.

  21. Hi ! im jherlyn im from ortgas pasig city i am teaching yoga combination with pilates around makati, can you help me to promote it?? thanks hope to hear from you soon.

@Jherlyn – I am sorry but I normally do not promote yoga classes. Rather, I simply list yoga shalas or special yoga workshops that are available in the metro. Please send me the URL of your website that has the yoga classes in them and I will include you in a list of yoga shalas. Please include also some information about your self especially where you took your certification as a yoga teacher and the style of yoga you teach. Namaste.

  22. Hi Jane! I live in Lipa and used to practice yoga at The Farm at San Benito when they still made it available to the public. Now you can only take yoga classes if you’re a patient and it seems rather impractical to pay P4,000 each time I want to take an hour and a half yoga class. Would you know of anyone who can teach me yoga here in the Batangas area? I’d really appreciate it.

  23. Hi,

Can you recommend yoga instructors who can conduct private or group sessions at home or in the office (Makati and Taguig areas)?

    Thanks!

  24. Hi!

I am having the thought of starting yoga and I’d like to ask your suggestion on what type of yoga is fit for me. I am a college student and have an average physique. Clearing my mind and learning to focus on things is what I essentially seek because I am having a hard time studying nowadays due to inevitable problems. And also I’d like to ask if you know a studio around Ermita, Manila or perhaps studios nearby the latter. Kindly e-mail me your reply. Thank you.

  25. Hi Jane!

Kindly update our studio infor on your site…

  26. I think the true challenge you will have is finding the other yogic groups and techniques that aren’t as popular or easily accessible. There are such arcane groups but practice different types as a periphery activity and their main practice is advertised as something else. It will be interesting if you can find some of those unlike the more overt ones you have mentioned. πŸ™‚

  27. Hi! Do you know of any yoga studios in Bonifacio Global City?

    Thanks!

  28. Jane
I will be visiting the Cebu area in a couple of weeks and am trying to find a yoga studio. I do many types of yoga here in the US but would love to find someone who does kundalini yoga which in my favorite practice. In reading your site, it looks like the only studio in Cebu has closed down. I will be there on Jan.18 so if there is anything you find, I would greatly appreciate it. Happy New Year
    Namaste

  29. Thank you so much, Jane, for including us in your list. Alex, Dante and I appreciate it. It would be great to meet you. Namaste!

  30. Hello, Jane,
Kindly include us in your list of Yoga Schools in Manila. We have offices in Barangays Bel-air and Poblacion in Makati.

Please visit our website at http://www.yogawholistics.com to learn more about us and our yoga and alternative healing programs.

    Thank you!

    Cristina G. Feibel

@Cristina – It’s nice to see many yoga shalas sprouting in the metro. Hope to meet you someday. Namaste.

  31. Thank you for posting about my shala πŸ™‚

    @ekagratasala – You’re welcome!

  32. Hi jane,

Would like to ask if it is possible for u to add our studio in your studio list. Yoga Philippines is Located in Hillsborough Village Alabang. We offer Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Yoga Flow and Stott Mat Pilates.

    Thanks a lot.

    NAmaste,

    joseph

@Joseph – Hi there. Sorry for my late posting. I had not been well last month. I hope to one day travel to your shala to take pictures and maybe talk with you a bit about Yoga Philippines. Namaste.

  33. Thank you sooo much for posting my website!!

    Love & Light…

    @Imee – You’re welcome! Namaste.

  34. Is there any center available in metro manila, I found out that there are centers in makati and quezon city but none in manila….

@Armi – The yoga centers are concentrated mostly in the South, Makati, Pasig and QC. But I think there are individuals who teach yoga, just not sure where. I’ll keep a lookout.

  35. New studio in laguna.

    http://web.me.com/imee_contreras/Yoga/Home.html

I’d like to ask if you could please include my studio and link in your directory listing? Thank you so much!!!

    Namaste,
    Ime

  36. Hello,

I would like to ask you if you can add my yoga studio to your directory listing? I just started teaching in my new home studio a few weeks ago. You can check the website http://web.me.com/imee_contreras/Yoga/Home.html for more info. My new url, http://www.shaktiyogalaguna.com, is still not in service for a couple days yet.

Thanks so much for your help!!!

    Namaste

  37. Namasate Jane,

How are you? Thank you for publishing yoga centers around the country. I helped a lot of yoga enthusiasts find the best type of yoga for them.

As for me, I have been practicing Bikram for almost a year now but had to stop for a few months due to work schedule.

I am planning to put up a Yoga Center here in Quezon City and would like to find a consultant and Yoga Instructors as well. Maybe you can help me out on this one? I would greatly appreciate your help.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

I’ll get in touch with you again because I would like to feature you and your yoga journey in my blog as I write about instructors and the different styles of yoga taught.

  40. hi Jane,

Is there any yoga teacher training available in the Philippines?

thanks for the info on this site πŸ™‚

@Niels – Hi! There have been yoga teacher training workshops in the past here in the Philippines. Please check my site regularly under the tab “Events” to check since the teachers are almost always from abroad so these are not ongoing classes.

  41. Hi there Jane,

Was wondering if you know of anyone teaching or selling dvds on Kundalini Yoga here in Manila?

Been looking and asking around bu cant seem to find anything.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Cheers!

    Danielle

@Danielle – Hi, I was asked about Kundalini Yoga a long time ago but as far as I know, no one offers this kind of yoga yet here. I could be wrong. I will be on the lookout for a teacher or DVD on Kundalini Yoga & email you back if there is here.

  42. Hi Jane… additional yoga studios/websites in the Philippines…

http://www.boracayyoga.com by Mo Ching Yip and http://www.blissyogamanila... don’t know the man but just saw his card at Aura.

    Cheers.

@Jon – Hey Jon, thanks for the heads-up. Will check these sites out and post them asap.

  43. Hi Jane,

Thank you for linking our site to your list of studios. I know there are many who have been waiting a long time for a place to practice here in Davao, myself included. So we’ve recently opened our doors and are welcoming all who are interested in practicing yoga down south in Mindanao…

    Namaste…

@South Studio – You’re welcome and good luck on your Davao studio. I have blogger friends there who may be happy to find this fitness center open already. Will give them a heads-up. Could you email me more info on your yoga instructor? I would be interested to know who are the teachers in the country. Thanks and more power…

  48. hi! i watched in probe just last night about “laughter yoga”. do you know any studio that offer that class?

also any yoga studio within metro manila? πŸ™‚

Jane: You may want to check out my page on Studios in the Philippines. I am trying to update it as I become aware of new studios. Laughter Yoga is listed there.

  49. Are there any good ones in the Pasay area? Somewhere near the DFA/Mall of Asia?

Jane: At the moment I do not know of any in that area. But please check my page on Studios once in a while. If I hear of a studio in that area, I will put it up.

  50. Hi,im temporarily based here in cebu city and living near capitol site. Can you refer yoga schools near to my area. thanks.

Jane: Hello, Mike. I learned that Yoga One had closed down in Cebu and am not aware of any new yoga centers around. Hopefully, Cebu readers who may know of any shalas can respond to this comment and let us know.

  51. Hi Jane.

3 days ago, I was able to join, for the first time, the only yoga class our gym offers. I wanted to pursue yoga and bought a book to practice at home. But I was advised that I should join classes ea early as possible for correct posture. I am now trying to find a yoga studio in Makati or in Malate, Manila with affordable rates and flexible schedule. Bikram Yoga and Iyengar and YogaManila are a bit expensive for my budget and their schedules dont fit mine.

    Help please!

    Thanks very much.
    Ruzel

Jane: Hi Ruzel. Sorry for the late reply. As of now, I do not know of any other studios that are offering rates that would appeal to you. But let me get in touch with some people. Stay posted. I may reply to you in this thread.

  52. any updates on yoga studios in davao city? preferably one that teaches bikram yoga.

    thanks!

    Jane:
Hi Sherwin. I don’t think there are any bikram yoga studies yet in Davao. But I do know of a friend with links to some yogis in Davao City. They are ashtanga yoga practitioners. I will try to get some more info and get back to you.

  53. Hi, I’m very interested to learn yoga, but I’ll have to ask what minimum fitness or health status is required for a beginner? I have high blood pressure though well-controlled, and I was wondering if yoga can assist in gradually improving my overall physical condition. Thanks.

  54. Hi Jane, Just like Ibsky, Im also from Antipolo, and looking for a yoga instructor that I can go to or can give private lessons. I really hope you can give me a good lead for this.

    Namaste.

  55. Hi Jane!

I am very happy that I came across your blog. Thank you very much for sharing information about Yoga in the Philippines. For the past months, I have been looking for a website that can help me locate yoga classes in San Juan and QC and Im glad that your website has been very helpful. Also, just wanted to ask if you know a yoga instructor that would be able to teach in the comfort of my own home at a reasonable price.I hope you can help me with this.
    Thank you very much!

  56. hi jane,
i have been browsing through the net for the new location of Yoga One studio since they’ve been closed down….it was Ashtanga Yoga that i tried and i loved it but i can’t seem to find where they transferred? i am hopeful that you know where it is….or do u happen to know a studio who has been teaching Ashtanga?

Thank you.Hope to hear from u soon.

  57. Hi, I live in Antipolo, would you know any yoga instructors who hold sessions in this area as I am very interested to do yoga. I once tried Bikram Yoga in Greenhills but discontinued due to distance. Hope you can help. Thanks a lot.

Jane: Hi. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone in your area at present. But I will try to make inquiries and let you know if there is one closer. The closest to Antipolo right now would be Vinyasa Yoga Center in Ortigas (Emerald Ave.) and Yoga Manila at Chi Spa at EDSA Shangri-la Hotel.

  58. Dear Jane,

I’ve just started Yoga in Ananda Marga Yoga Center in Capitol Area, Cebu City this week. The past two sessions were very nice and educational and now I’m really happy with Yoga. I actually do it in conjunction with my jogging/running.

I got a problem though… The course I’m going through is Ashtanga (prolly spelled wrong) Yoga. A Yogi is even there, unfortunately, I feel so limited in the time. Beginner’s class is only twice a week, to add to that… Yoga One Studio near my place has closed down. Do you know anyone from Cebu who could provide private lessons?

It would be very helpful if I have private lessons since I’m pretty busy most of the time plus I love having personalized instruction. πŸ™‚

    I hope you can help

  59. Hi Jane! Whats the best yoga for a beginner? Im turning 22 tomorrow, and I still find it hard to relax. I’m looking for an exercise that will also help me to ease out. I have a sleep disorder, and get cranky at times. When I was a kid I also have an anxiety disorder (and I guess, its still on me until now). My doctor told me to try yoga. I tried Bikram once, and never came back. I almost faint on my first class. Im not quite sure where to start. Please help. Thank you and more power!

  60. Hi Jane! I have been visiting your blog off and on over the past months. Very informative especially for beginners like me. I am interested in taking yoga lessons but your list doesn’t have any listings for yoga studios in the Ermita/ Manila area. Would you know if there are any studios here?

    Many thanks.

    Myra

  61. hello jane. it nice to find someone as passionate with yoga as i am. i used to dance, and since i couldn’t find a good dance teacher at this point ( everyone seems to be in hongkong disneyland ), yoga seemed the next logical outlet for me. yoga, i am proud to say, is my new passion.

anyway, there is a new bikram yoga studio ( by new player Joy Geronca ) in Eastwood City. Bikram Yoga Eastwood is located at the ground level of One Orchard Road Condominium in Eastwood City ( near the church ). you may get in touch with them at 972-1838

i love their studio, it is very intimate, very clean with high ceiling for a change, and they have very good teachers
as well ( hello betty, ginger and of course joy! )

i wish you could include Bikram Yoga Eastwood in your list.

thanks jane. will look forward to your blogs, thanks.

  62. Hi Jane! Wow, this is so helpful! I just got back from abroad and I’ve been trying to look for a yoga class in Quezon City which is near my home. I’m so glad that I found your blog. I’ll check out your list above.

Jane: Happy to be of help, Toe. Saw your blog. Beautiful!

  64. Thank you muchly, Jane! It looks posh but I’ll check it out! Hope to meet you and other yoginis soon πŸ™‚

  65. Hi Jane,

Your blog’s fabulous, it’s so informative! Well done! πŸ™‚

I was hoping you could help me – I used to do yoga in 2001-2002, and I think it was mostly ashtanga yoga. The studio was initially in Pasay then they moved to Makati (on Pasay Road, across Park Square). Around 2004 I think they relocated to San Antonio Village but I haven’t been there, and I checked their website but it hasn’t been updated in years and there’s no schedule of classes.

I understand there’s a number of studios offering ashtanga yoga, but I prefer to go to one that doesn’t look like a dance hall or a gym room, if you know what I mean. The studios I used to go to looked really homey and had great ambience for yoga – is there anything like that in Metro Manila these days?

I moved to Melbourne over three years ago so I have no clue – I’ll be in Manila for two weeks next month and would love to attend yoga classes while I’m there. To give you an idea what the studio I used to go to looked like, please check out Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne’s website, http://www.ashtangamelbourne.com.au/contact.html (I’m in no way connected with them, and from what I remember the studio on Pasay Road looked much better). I could send you the url of the studio I used to go to, in case you’re familiar with them.

I’d greatly appreciate your help! Hope to hear from you soon!

    Thanks muchly!

    Namaste,

    Ivy Rose

Jane: Hi Ivy. Looks like you are in the Makati area. Well, Yoga Manila just moved from their long-time studio in Makati to another one across the street which, from pictures, may be what you are looking for. I have not checked out their new place yet. They are sharing this space with the foundation that teaches tai chi and qigong and the place looks new, clean and great for meditation as well.
    Here is the link: GoodQiCircle
You can click on another link to go to Yoga class schedules.
    Hope this helps.

  66. good day! i’m interested in yoga. but my greatest concern, would it be safe since my spinal chord had been operated (scoliosis)? i have two harrington rods to correct my scoliosis. please enlighten me on this matter.

    many thanks.

  67. Jane,

My friend Fritz will be relocating in Davao next month. He’s originally from Davao but studied in Manila and worked in Cebu.

He might offer some classes there. I’ll keep you posted when he does.

Fritz was also a member of Team Yoga 2002. He trained with Bela Lipat and received his 200-hour teaching certificate from Fitness First Malaysia.

Jane: Gosh, answered prayers so soon! Thanks for the heads up, Jon! And I hope Alex sees this post so we will both be on the lookout for Fritz’ classes.

  68. Thank you for your reply! I will regularly check this site. I hope someone posts a yoga studio in Davao. I’m actually in Manila but thinking of relocating in Davao.

Jane: Hmmm interesting, Alex! Years ago, it was my family that relocated from Davao to Manila! But do keep checking here in case I come across any shalas that are put up there. Come to think of it, could this be the sign for some friends who are thinking along the same line of thought??? Calling, calling Jon and Chona!

  69. Hi,
Just wanna ask if you happen to know if there are any yoga studios in Davao. Thanks.

Jane: You know, Alex, that is the reason Mindanao isn’t on my list — yet. I can’t seem to find yoga shalas based in Davao or anywhere in Mindanao. I hope anyone from there reading this who has knowledge of actual yoga studios (not gyms) will post a comment here with a URL, if any.

  70. Hi Jane!
I am so happy to find such an informative website on Yogalife in Manila! I was even more excited when looking through your instructors that I was listed as a “New addition!”

    Thank you for including me!

On another note, I’ve been searching the net for a couple of hours. I’m looking for someone who teaches Kundalini Yoga here in Manila.

I’m also on the look out for an Ayurveda Practioner who would have experience with Chakra healings or balancing.

Any ideas on where to find these types of people who can help me on my journey?

Thanks and keep up the great work!

    Namaste
    Michelle

Jane: Hi Michelle! Thank you for visiting!

I have asked some friends about Kundalini Yoga and it does not seem like there is anyone teaching this yet in the Philippines. I could be wrong though.

As for the Ayurveda practitioner, I am asking around. A friend who is into chakra healing is in the US but coming back April. I will email you on developments privately. Hope we can stay in touch!

    Namaste. πŸ™‚

  71. Hello,

I am trying to find my Yoga teacher from 1971-73. His name is Mr. Vick and he taught classes on Clark AFB. I was his student and would like to be in touch with him. He lived in the Manila area.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
    Margaret

  72. Hi jane. i am a very much interested in yoga. im a student nurse. Im planning to start yoga this april despite of my busy schedule. But as of now i dont know where to enroll. is there yoga school located in University belt?? thanks…

Jane: Hi there Jami. Unfortunately, I have no knowledge of a yoga studio around the University belt but you may wish to ask within your school as there are some schools that offer yoga as part of PE classes. However, if you live in the Quezon City, Pasig or Makati areas, there are some located there. Feel free to contact me again if I can be of further help!

  73. Hello Jane. Thanks for your reply by the way I have consulted my OB-gyne and she advised me that its ok to proceed with the yoga class. By the way Im going to try the 3 days session at Bikram Yoga Manila tomorrow. GO YOGA….

    Thanks and regards,
    Juvy

Jane: Wow, Juvy, that is wonderful to hear! Let me know how your stint with Bikram goes….

  74. Hello Jane. I am very much interested to learn about yoga could you help me where can I look for school who offer the cheapest rate and also located near alabang? In addition to that I gave birth last July 2006 C-section pwede ba akong mag yoga?

Im looking forward for your reply.

Have a nice day and God bless.

    Juvy

    Jane:
Hi Juvy. It is always advisable to seek your OB-Gyne’s advice but considering you had the C-section over a year ago makes yoga feasible, I would think. I suggest you refer to the studios listed in this blog for those available near Alabang, check their websites and give them a call. Good luck!

  75. Hi Jane! I’m also looking for yoga teachers who can give private lessons at home. My house is near Greenhills. Thanks!

Jane: Hi Nicole. Thanks for visiting. I will contact you privately on this. πŸ™‚

  76. Hi Jane. Do you know anyone who can teach Ashtanga in the comfort of our own home? THanks!

Jane: Mel, let me ask around and will email you privately.

  77. Hi! I tried bikram yoga a few weeks back. Half way thru the session I there was a tingling feeling on my back. the next day I could not get up because i had a terrible headache. What caused this headache? thanks!

Jane: Hi Millie! First of all, I am sorry to hear about your experience. There are so many things that could have caused it and I would not even try to hazard a guess as I do not know your actual situation (like your age, health condition, yoga experience, etc). And what I am about to tell you should not be taken as gospel truth either.

First, you could try to talk to your bikram yoga teacher, explain what happened and see if he/she has an explanation for it that makes sense to you. I have read introductions in some bikram yoga studios that say feeling faint is often experienced by beginners precisely because the body is only just starting to detox itself from years of toxins taken in. Whether that is true or not and whether the headache is your body’s reaction to detoxification, I do not know.

Second, it is possible that bikram yoga is not for everyone and you need to find out if that is the type of yoga for you. I choose to stay with hatha vinyasa yoga which is the style taught by my teacher Pio. I have a small build, need to gain weight (a lot of weight!) and live in a tropical country. I cannot imagine myself starting off with a heated room when my body already naturally builds up heat even in room temp when I do vinyasa yoga. I do not need to lose all those calories from sweating out in a heated room. But that is me. It is different for others and I have friends doing bikram who swear by it.

So in the end, I may have no answer for you but you need to seek it out yourself. But do not give up on yoga because oftentimes, perseverance despite initial discomfort (or even pain) will be replaced by benefits which I experience up to now. I hope you find a yoga style that will be just right for you. And do update me on it too. Good luck and namaste!

    • Hi..jane..but i would like to comment on willie’s experience about bikram yoga. First of all,you should have a trained master who will guide all the way. Not all masters are well-trained to do that thing. We must also note that Yoga is considered to be an exercise nowadays, but in history, yoga is building a connection between you and the universe.
All kinds of yoga are correlated with each other with different poses to choose from. We must all take into consideration that too much meditation could open your inner self into wider arrays..once you open the so-called “kundalini”, you have to take care of it. Try to research on kundali syndrome to know what I’m talking about. Since bikram yoga is powerful cuz you are opening up the fire core in you. In this generation, its hard to find someone who are really practicng yoga by faith. So be wary of it. If you have those symptoms, do not go to medical practitioner cuz they have a different approach on that thing. You should seek a real master by faith so he could give you advices and heals you too.

    • Hi, there! My name is Cris and I am a metaphysician who practices yoga and meditation. I have a PhD in Metaphysical Psychology and I’m also a Reiki practitioner. I would like to comment on Millie’s experience from an energetic perspective….

Tingling sensations along the spine or back are normal for beginners (or even seasoned practioners) of yoga. It’s a physical manifestation of your ‘kundalini’ awakening. Bikram can be very fast with that. The headache is an adjustment of your energies. You got a bit too much of it when your system is not entirely ready for that amount of energy. Your body’s reaction is normal. Others have different reactions, some fall asleep, some feel draggy, some feel energized. Your body will get used to it in time. Just allow the energies to settle. You must not be anxious. When I get these tingling sensations, I’m very excited and perform Reiki (energetic healing) to plants, animals, children or anyone who comes along. πŸ™‚ I always keep things in a positive light…. But if it still concerns you, you make seek a Reiki master or a Pranic healer for help.
