Tomorrow, June 14, I will undergo a medical procedure to blast my kidney stones (one of which is 1 cm in diameter). The doctor will leave a stent inside me for two weeks. Translation: NO YOGA!
To make up for that impending absence, I hit the yoga classes this week. I went Tuesday, Wednesday, and last night, I did an hour of yoga at the gym followed by another hour at the yoga center.
My yoga mates who heard about my routine this week asked if I was crazy or suffering separation anxiety from yoga. It’s a little of both, I think.
When you imbibe yoga into your life, it really becomes an extension of YOU as a person. When I am stressed out, I resort to pranayama (deep breathing) techniques. When I find myself seating in front of the computer for a LONG time (the “sickness” of bloggers), I find myself stretching and bending using asanas. Even when I eat, I am now more aware of what is healthy and what is not (though I must confess that I still eat what is not really that healthy, just because it tastes SOOOO good!).
I know I will survive the next 2 weeks without yoga. But it does not mean I won’t miss it, miss my teacher Pio, miss my yoga mates. I will….like hell! But instead of getting all worked up over missing it, I can now use the yogic attitude for times like these. I can adapt the perspective of accepting that there is a time for everything and just be happy with looking forward to resuming classes again.
See all of you again in two weeks, my dear friends! And thank you for keeping me in your prayers.
Namaste!
